Sam
Dear Sam,

Want to know who's hiring like crazy in every county in my region?  If you knew, what would you do about it?

Okay, it's the school system.  Every summer, there is usually a huge void in every county causing the HR Manager to go out recruiting and interviewing for several open positions that have to be filled before the new teacher orientation in August.

Now how can you help these managers find great teachers for our schools?

Call the HR Managers and Principals for as many schools as you can and ask if you can take them to lunch to go over an idea to help them fill open positions.

Read on to see some ideas I came up with and I am sure you can think of some too.

New Teacher Orientation

Obviously, there is going to be a lot of teacher openings that are going to have to be filled within the next few weeks so..

1. Meet with the HR Manager and find out the positions that they are trying to fill and offer to make some phone calls to teachers in the system to see if they know anyone that teaches in a nearby town that would be a great addition to the staff.  Networking is one of the best sources of leads for the better teachers.

2. Meet with the HR Manager and help put together a great relocation package with several homes and things to do in your town that might help them attract good teachers.

3. Do a teacher home promotion in nearby towns trying to attract teachers from their town by mentioning the openings for teachers that your town is filling this summer.  The HR Manager will thrilled to have you helping his recruiting this way without having to spend money from his/her budget.

4. Meet with the HR Managers and Principals and let them know if they get a good prospect that must relocate if they accept their position, you would love to show them several homes in the area to help them persuade them into relocating into our area.

5. Remember that the price of gas is going to make relocation a viable option if they move from over 50 miles away so target those communities first!

6. Don't forget that every town is going to be losing some teachers to other towns so by getting more involved in this process, you are more likely to pick up a listing too!!

7. Also, don't forget about the colleges and community colleges.  They are going to need professors and now is the time that they are going to be hiring too!

GOOD LUCK WITH THIS AND REMEMBER, TEACHERS ARE GREAT HOME BUYERS!!

Weekly Tip -  Get Creative with your Listings with...

listingcards
Listing Cards

From an Internet blog by Teresa Berry, I saw an awesome idea that I have never seen before in printed listing cards for your listings.   Look closely at the content.

Here's my thinking on this.

1. Put additional information on the flipside of the cards like:
  • Name of neighborhood
  • A floorplan of the listing
  • School districts
  • Distances to shopping
  • Distances to parks and ball fields
  • Year built
  • More information about how you reach you like websites and email addresses.
2. Give them out at open houses, put them in your mailings, give plenty to your sellers, give to your prospective sellers during future listing presentations, give to your prospective buyers, etc.

3.  Display some in public places that allow business cards because these are sure to draw attention.  I would frequent these areas often to replace the ones taken down.

Weekly Mortgage Commentary Snippet
Rate Lock Advisory - Monday Jun. 30th

This week brings us the release of very few economic reports for the markets to digest. There are only three monthly reports scheduled for release that are likely to affect mortgage rates, but one of them is arguably the most influential single piece of data that we see each month. This is a shortened trading week with the markets closed Friday and an early bond market close Thursday in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

The first of the week's three reports is of fairly high importance to the bond market. The Institute of Supply Management (ISM) will release their manufacturing index for June late Tuesday morning. This index measures manufacturer sentiment by surveying trade executives on current business conditions.
